Pide

Pide is of the common breakfast bread cooked in hot clay oven and eaten in Turkey. There are different types of pide stuffed with different ingredients, we can call it as a "Turkish Pizza", let's see a making of basic pride called as "Ramazan".

Ingredients Required:

To make 6 pide
Dried yeast (7g)
All purpose flour (500g)
Sugar (4.5g)
Salt (4.5g)
Sesame seeds (9g)
Nigella seeds (4.5g)
Egg yolk (1)
Oil (14.3)
Water (400 ml)


Preparation Method:

  • Mix flour, yeast, sugar and salt together in a bowl and add warm water
  • Mix until dough becomes smooth and elastic (approximately 15 minutes)
  • Now shift the dough to oil greased bowl and cover with a tea towel for 1 hour or until dough has doubled in size
  • Preheat the oven to 230C (430 F/Gas 7) and take a baking tray with baking paper
  • Now take the dough and smoothly spread on floured surface and cut in half
  • Take each piece and flatten slightly with hand on non-stick baking paper and cover with damp tea towel for 15 minutes
  • After 15 minutes, stretch each piece of dough into a rectangle shape with the help of floured hands and cover with damp tea towel for 10 minutes
  • Now combine sesame and nigella seeds and on other side whisk egg yolkand oil in a bowl
  • Brush the top of each pide with egg mixture and sprinkle seeds (mixed sesame and nigella)
  • Now keep each pide in an oven tray and cook for 10 minutes or until it turns to golden color
  • Now your pide (ramazan) is ready for eating
